The Chief Executive Officer of the Port Harcourt Electricity Distribution PHED, Mr. Ete Pinnick, has assured the National Youth Service Corps NYSC, Rivers State, of support.

He said that PHED under his watch would support NYSC in whatever capacity to ensure regular power supply at the permanent orientation camp, Nonwa-Gbam Tai.

On the request by the NYSC state coordinator that PHED should accept corps members for primary assignment in the company, Ete promised to reverse its earlier decision and accept corps members.

The PHED MD noted that the company would only accept corps members who fit into their technical and engineering needs.

Ete stated this in his office when he received the state coordinator, Mr. Moses Oleghe on a courtesy visit.

He stated that “a support extended to the NYSC scheme is a support to nation building and development.

“The NYSC scheme is the bedrock of the nation’s unity and integration, which has over the years being providing young, vibrant and virile graduate youths with a platform for self discovery and career development and growth.”

With nostalgia, Ete recounted his service year experiences and described them as amazing, fulfilling and rewarding.

Further, he revealed that the service year helped shape him to attain the height he has reached in life.

On his part, Oleghe informed the PHED MD that the aim of the visit was to familiarize with him and strengthen the cordial relationship between the two organizations.

The NYSC state coordinator also noted that the visit was to seek assistance to connect the new transformer the state government gifted NYSC to national grid and request for the acceptance of corps members posted to PHED for primary assignment.
