48 Hours To Yenagoa Rally, Wike’s Point Man In Trouble

  • Turnah: Court Order An Academic Exercise

With just 48 hours to the controversial rally organised by associates of the FCT Minister, Dr Nyesom Wike expected to hold in Yenagoa, the man behind the event, George Turnah has been confirmed suspended from the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP.

Turnah, now a loyalist of Wike, is behind the rally which has caused a stir in Bayelsa State for some weeks now. A court has already stopped the rally and security agencies put on notice against it.

Although, Turnah insists that the rally would go on as planned, as he was organising the rally to appreciate the president, Bola Ahmed Tinubu for appointing sons of the state into positions.

Turner was among those who were said to have elected during the PDP congress which took place in Calabar, with Wike as the arrow head. But it came after he had been suspended by the state working committee.

On Thursday, the Bayelsa State High Court gave a judgement in suit number BYHC/YHC/CV/73/2025 between Solomon Agwanana & Ors v George Turnah & Anor, upholding the suspension Turnah as a member of the PPD.

The court held that by the constitution of the party, the state working committee had the power to suspend Turnah.

But when TNN reached him for comments on the court judgement, he said the judgement was a mere academic exercise as the zonal leadership of the PDP had lifted his suspension.

“The court has only said the state working Committee can suspend a Zonal officer. The Party constitution stipulates how such suspension can be lifted. Mine has been lifted in line with the constitution of the party,” he said.

When asked in the Whatsapp chat if he would not obey the court order, he stopped responding to the chats.
