With less than seven weeks to the presidential election, the APC chairman in Cross River State, Alphonsus Eba has said that the state chapter will work hard to achieve victory for Bola Tinubu.
Eba made the revelation in Calabar while unveiling the party’s campaign team for all the elections. He said “our target is to come out on the 25 February, 2023 with 500,000 votes in support of our presidential candidate and the National Assembly candidates of our party.
“We are officially unveiling the state and local government campaign council to let you know, that we are keeping in touch with relevant provisions of our APC constitution, that has made special provision from top to bottom.
“The state campaign council would comprises 2500 members. The local government campaign council would comprises 52,000 members. The chapter and ward chairmen at local government levels have been given full autonomy to constitute based on their peculiarities that would run between 10,000 to 100,000 members in each of the wards and polling units.
“We want to stay at a very conservative percentage of over 80 per cent; representing over 500,000 votes because out of about 1.5 million registered voters, we are aware that only about 600 plus thousand voters have collected their PVCs so far.”
The chairman said Cross River electorate may not surpass 700,000 on the polling units on February 25, 2023. “Those that may come out may not be up to 700,000 at the end of the day; so we are targeted at getting the realistic figure of 500,000 votes,” a figure which represents 80 per cent of total votes.
