Two Students Faint At UNIUYO Screening

Candidates of post Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME) who thronged the University of Uyo for screening on Tuesday, were thrown into confusion as two of them fainted at the Onyema Ugochukwu hall of the town Campus of the university.
Our correspondent gathered that the chaos was caused by poor arrangements where candidates were roasted in the scorching sun for hours.
Lecturers were accused of collecting money from some candidates, whom they clear way for.
Dehydrated and exhausted in the sun, two of the candidates fainted and were rushed for treatment at health centre of the university. Some parents who came with their children expressed disaffection with the screening exercise, describing it as “a shame to the image of the institute”.
Many students, who spoke to our correspondent expressed dismay over the situation, calling on the school authorities to rectify the faulty process.
