Unknown thugs from Ikot Udoro Oku Community in Uyo, on Sunday allegedly invaded the premises of Kings College, Uyo and destroyed properties worth millions of naira.
Among the properties destroyed during the invasion included, aluminium glass doors and windows, band set, chairs and tables belonging the school.
Narrating his ordeal to our correspondent, the proprietor of the school, Prince Bassey expressed shock over the degree of callousness exhibited by the hoodlums and called on the security agencies to investigate, arrest and prosecute the culprits.
Bassey said the school had never been in dispute with members of the village council until the emergence of Chief Effiong Udoh Ikpe, the incumbent village head.
He accused the village head of ganging up with those he described as disgruntled elements to wage war against the school management.
He said the malicious damage on the school land started in 2017 when thugs allegedly destroyed crops on the school land and later on confiscated blocks belonging to the school.
According to him, the matter was reported to the police in February, 2019 when he realized that the school land had finally been sold out.
He appealed to the state government to take necessary steps on the matter adding that action of the community members had become a threat to growth and progress of the school.
While condemning the action of the youths involved, Chief Peter Sam Udoh, said he had no dispute with the management of the school even though he admitted that there has been an age long land dispute between the family of late Chief Peter Sam Udoh.
