The Rivers State Police Command has commenced investigation into the alleged rape of a 12-year-old domestic staff by her employer, Daniel Isaac, 26.
Isaac, a native of Ohafia Local Government Area of Abia State, was arrested following allegations that he repeatedly sexually assaulted the minor who was brought from Bende LGA to care for his aged mother.
A neighbour, Mrs. Joy, said residents initially believed the victim was the suspect’s daughter until the child later disclosed the alleged abuse.
The suspect reportedly confessed during questioning at the Rivers State Police Headquarters in Port Harcourt.
Police spokesperson, CSP Grace Iringe-Koko, urged parents to be cautious when releasing children for domestic work, adding that the suspect would be charged to court after investigations.
