Operatives of the Nigerian society and civil Defence Corps have sealed a popular eatery in Uyo over alleged involvement and patronage of bunkering and adulterated petroleum products.
A letter to the managing director of the eatery dated 28th August, signed by the head of department intelligence and investigations, Olkeh Okpaise reads in part: “This office is investigating a suspected case of bunkering/adulteration activities on petroleum products such as the type of petroleum product found in your possession and being used in your generating sets.
You are required by this office to furnish us with the details of the source of your products, including the name of your supplier (s) and their addresses including phone numbers, to enable us complete investigation in good time.
However when contacted on telephone, managing director of the eatery Aniekan Etuk denied the allegations, saying that the company buys its petroleum products from authorized petrol stations in Uyo.
He described as unbecoming of the agency, to interrupt their business for two days and decried the illegal detention of their accountant, Mark Godwin and a utility staff, Godwin Udoh.
