Determined to leave an enduring legacy in her place of primary assignment, National Youth Service Corps NYSC member, Bassey Anita Akpan, RV/25A/1217, has donated 90 pieces of desks to students of Community Secondary School, Umuoyor, in Omuma Local Government Area of Rivers State.

Bassey also gave a significant face-lift to the school by repainting the entire building and procuring five white marker boards to enhance modern teaching and learning.

In her resolve to improve her PPA and impact her host community, the corps member also replaced broken and dilapidated wooden classroom windows with modern aluminum windows.

Bassey procured educational materials, including textbooks and exercise books, to aid teaching and learning of students and donated a complete set of school uniform for 10 indigent students.

Overwhelmed by the gesture, the State NYSC Coordinator, Mr Moses Oleghe, rained fatherly blessings on her and commended her for the projects which he described as impactful.

Oleghe who was represented by the NYSC Obio/Akpor 11 Zonal Inspector, Mr. Tekerebo Gidigidi, said, ” thank you for these initiatives, God bless you immensely for your desire to make impact in your PPA.

“Corps member Bassey Anita Effiong has not only done herself and her family proud, but she has done the entire NYSC scheme proud and we are very proud of you.

“Let me use this occasion to charge other corps members serving in Omuma LGA to emulate the good works of this corps member while fulfilling the noble values of the NYSC through disciplined, diligent, and patriotic service to the fatherland.”

As part of his itinerary in the LGA, the zonal inspector also inspected the ongoing new central corps members lodge, being constructed by the LG chairman, Mr Uchechukwu Obasi.

He said the project was “ideal and significant as it will reduce the negative impact of acute accommodation challenges faced by corps members posted to Omuma LGA while boosting the posting of more corps members to them to drive educational growth and development.”
