Even with the death of about seven persons on Tuesday during the Bikers Carnival, Africa’s biggest street party, the Carnival Calabar, will go on as planned.
About seven persons were said to have died and many others injured when a car rammed into a crowd on the route meant for bikers.
One of the bikers told TNN over the telephone on Tuesday night that they were all shocked at the appearance of cars on the streets on a day that was meant for bikers as part of the Calabar Carnival.

He said the accident disorganized the entire carnival and forces them to retire home, even before the state governor, Prof Ben Ayade came out with his bike.
He said it was strange to find a car on the carnival route. “I can’t understand what the cars were looking for on the carnival routes. We were told they were posh cars and were coming to join us.
“We were yet to commence; we were just waiting for the governor to come out so we can start. The next thing we heard was people shouting ‘my child o, my sister o.’
