Adventist Women Advocate Involvement In Evangelism

The Adventist Women Ministries, AWM department of the Seventh-day Adventist Church which exists to uphold, encourage, and challenge Adventist women in their pilgrimage as disciples of Jesus Christ and members of His world church has called on her members to be totally involved in soul wining.
Director for the AWM in Cross River state, Mrs. Cecilia Edu Enebieni made the call when the women celebrated their 25th anniversary in the Church’s headquarters in Calabar. She disclosed that the Women’s Ministries embraces the Seventh-day Adventist Church’s 2020-2025 world theme — I Will Go, adding that it is pertinent for every member to be part of the movement.
In her message entitled “I Will Go Reach My World” Enebieni said I Will Go is a rallying call to every member of the Seventh-day Adventist Church to be part of Total Member Involvement. “It is a call to mobilize our resources efficiently and productively, to be flexible, and to answer God’s call to put aside our own plans and move in whatever direction He calls us to go.
“I Will Go points to the importance of nurturing women in the church and new believers so we can grow in the power of the Holy Spirit, empowering our sisters through training so we are equipped to help those in need and reaching out to tell and show the love God has for all people wherever they are with no distinction for race, culture, language, or gender.

“We are each called, my sisters, first to accept the gift of salvation that God so freely has offered us, then to live each day allowing the love of Christ to flow through us, and finally to reach out and touch and make a difference in our world with that love”, she noted.
The women director who selected her key text from Isaiah 6:8, challenged the members that if they will unite in purpose and reach out to their neighbors and all around them that they will together reach the whole world.
Earlier, the Director for the church’s Young Adventist Women Ministries, YAWM in Southern and Eastern Nigeria, Oluebube Alozie gave a brief history of the AWM. She said the AWM history is dated back to the period when they were known and addressed as ‘Dorcas and Benevolent Association’ which started with a group of women in Battle Creek, Michigan, USA in 1874.
“Our mission is in the large sense common to all Christians; that of uplifting Christ in the church and in the world. But more specifically, we are called to elevate women as persons of inestimable worth because they have been created and redeemed, enable women to deepen their faith and to experience spiritual growth and renewal, build networks among women in the world church to encourage bonds of creative exchange of friendship and mutual support and the creative exchange of ideas and information”, she highlighted.
She added that the purpose of the WM is to train and empower women to become involved in all areas of the church and to help women be able to not only know how to use their various God-given talents but to have opportunity to use them.
Highlights were the cutting of the anniversary cake and distribution of literature materials in the community.
