The Bayelsa State Commissioner of Police, Ajao Saka Adewale, says he is engaging relevant stakeholders to strengthen effective prosecution of criminal and ensure quick justice delivery.
The CP disclosed this when he led the Command’s management team on a courtesy visit to the State’s Attorney General and Commissioner for Justice, A.G Dambo SAN, as part of ongoing engagements aimed at strengthening institutional cooperation and enhancing the administration of criminal justice in the State.
The meeting provided an opportunity for both institutions to explore possible areas of collaboration, particularly in the areas of effective investigation and prosecution of criminal cases, timely legal advice and proper preparation of case files.

The engagement, he further explained, was for preservation and presentation of evidence, as well as closer coordination between investigating officers and prosecuting counsel.
In a statement by the Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO) Mr. Musa Mohammed, discussions also centred on the need to further promote compliance with extant laws and criminal justice procedures, safeguard the fundamental rights of suspects and victims.
It was also to reduce avoidable delays in the prosecution of cases, and strengthen mechanisms capable of ensuring that offenders were brought to justice through diligent and professionally conducted investigations.
The police chief emphasised the importance of a strong working relationship between the law enforcement agency and the Ministry of Justice, noting that effective law enforcement must ultimately translate into successful prosecution and justice delivery.
He reaffirmed the command’s commitment to professionalism, respect for the rule of law and continued engagement with relevant institutions towards building a safer and more secure Bayelsa State.
The Attorney General, while receiving the commissioner acknowledged the importance of sustained collaboration between the two institutions and expressed readiness for continued synergy in advancing effective justice administration, public safety and the overall security of the State.
The visit further underscored the commitment of the Bayelsa State police command to strengthening strategic partnerships with critical stakeholders and institutions in furtherance of an efficient, accountable and people-centred criminal justice system.
