National Youth Service Corps NYSC, Rivers State, has warned corps members against becoming nuisance through drug abuse.

NYSC gave this warning on Saturday, at the permanent orientation camp, Nonwa-Gbam Tai, during the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency NDLEA, war against drug abuse rally.

While addressing the corps members, the state NYSC coordinator, Mr Moses Oleghe, described illicit drugs as destiny destroyers.

Oleghe urged them to be intentional and committed to their resolve not to indulge in hard drugs.

The state NYSC boss who was represented by the camp director, Mr. Barnax Uloneme, emphasized the need for corps members to be drug-free ambassadors.

He urged them to take the knowledge gained from the 3-day NDLEA sensitization to the nooks and crannies of the communities in the state.

The corps members were charged to sensitize and educate their host communities to ensure that the people do not indulge in drug abuse.

Oleghe recounted incidences where corps members have become nuisance to their families and larger society because of drug abuse.

Earlier, the head of NDLEA on camp, Assistant Superintendent of Narcotics Odot Etukudo, decried rising reports of youth population indulging in drug abuse.

Etukudo enjoined the corps members to run from friends and family members who would encourage them to experiment on drugs noting that it is a license to destruction of life and dreams.
