Idem Ready For 2027, Picks APC Forms

The lawmaker representing Ukanafun/Oruk Anam Federal Constituency, Unyime Idem, has declared his interest to contest for re-election in the 2027 general elections under the platform of the All Progressives Congress (APC).

Idem, who is also the Chairman, House of Representative Committee on Public Procurement, revealed this on Thursday when he officially obtained his Expression of Interest and Nomination forms.

The lawmaker’s action sparked excitement across the constituency, as political stakeholders, party members, and supporters gathered at his residence to show their backing.

In a symbolic gesture of unity, stakeholders signed his nomination form, affirming their collective support for his second-term ambition in the well-attended event, which drew more than 200 stakeholders, featured moments of celebration and renewed commitment to sustaining development in the constituency.

Addressing the crowd of supporters, the lawmaker expressed gratitude over what he described as overwhelming support and confidence reposed in him, reaffirming his commitment to delivering quality representation.

Idem revealed that his aspiration for another term was driven by the desire to build on existing achievements and expand opportunities for his constituents.

He specifically noted that a return to the National Assembly will help him complete the electricity rehabilitation and restoration he is currently undertaking in the federal constituency, reassuring that the project will be extended to all the villages in the constituency.

Further, the lawmaker urged party members and supporters to remain united and focused as the political season approaches, stressing that collective effort would be key to securing success in the forthcoming elections.

In their seperate reactions, community leaders and political stakeholders commended Idem for what they described as impactful representation, citing his contributions to infrastructure, empowerment programmes, and legislative advocacy.

They also pledged to mobilize support across wards and communities to ensure victory for President Bola Tinubu, Senate President, Godswill Akpabio, governor Umo Eno, Idem and other candidates of the APC, at the polls.

The stakeholders also assured the lawmaker of their continued cooperation, emphasizing the need for continuity to consolidate on ongoing projects and attract more federal presence to the area.
