The African Democratic Congress (ADC) has conducted ward, local government and state congresses in Bayelsa state despite being rattled by internal wranglings across the country.
At the state level, Mr. Tiedo Allison emerged as chairman as Sunday Williams was returned as Deputy chairman while Benjamin Iyodiowei clinched the position of state secretary amongst others.
In a statement jointly signed by the chairman, Congress Screening Committee, Mr. Andrew Seweniowo and the secretary, Furuebi Akene, the ADC thanked members for their peaceful disposition during the election.
The party noted that the successful conduct of the elections was made possible through strategic planning, inclusiveness and strict adherence to the ADC constitutional provisions.
The statement called on the newly elected executive members at the various levels to work hard in unity for the success of the party in Bayelsa state especially as the electioneering period approaches.
It could be recalled that the ADC is enmeshed in several legal battles arising from internal squabbles, with three factions laying claim to the party’s leadership at the national level.
