
As Bayelsa state awaits the arrival of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu any moment from now, movements have been restricted in several parts of the state especially in areas where the president will be commissioning projects.
Consequently, security has also been beefed up in strategic places to ensure a seamless a one-day presidential state visit.
The state governor, Senator Douye Diri, during the weekly prosperity road walk on Thursday, announced the total closure of the Swali Ultra Modern Market in Yenagoa, the state capital today.
A statement from the state Ministry of Information, Communication and Strategy, which was made available to TNN states, “there will be restriction of movement in Yenagoa today 10th of April 2026.
“The affected areas are Bayelsa Palm Road, Opolo Roundabout to Elebele Road, Imgbi Roundabout to Swali road, Ayama, Igeibiri, Agobiri, Oporoma roads in Southern Ijaw Local Government Area, Onopa New road, Onopa to Ovom, Government House axis and the Flyover.”
Projects slated for the president’s inauguration include: the 60-megawatt gas fired Turbines at Elebele in Ogbia council area, 630-mitre Angiama-Oporoma Road in Southern Ijaw LGA, the dualized New Yenagoa City Road and the Sagbama-Ekeremor Road.
The state government called on all Bayelsans to come out en mass to welcome the president, who will be returning to Abuja, the Federal Capital City today after the commissioning ceremonies.
