The member representing Ukanafun/Oruk Anam Federal Constituency of Akwa Ibom State, Dr Unyime Idem, has announced another education advancement initiative for his constituents.
Idem, who is also the chairman of the House of Representatives committee on Public Procurements, on Saturday invited his constituents to apply for 200 scholarship opportunities, from first to doctoral degree in Nigerian universities.
This is aside from previous scholarship opportunities initiated by him.
The same lawmaker had, in the past, sponsored scores of constituents to China for training in various fields.
According to the lawmaker, eligible candidates must be natives of the federal constituency.
The courses of study covered under the scholarship are sciences, engineering, economics, accounting, law and computer science/engineering.
For undergraduate students, those who should apply are students from 200 level and above are eligible for application.
The applicants are expected to have at least five credits in WAEC/SSCE/NECO results including, English Language and mathematics.
Other requirements are admission letter, valid students identity card, school fee receipts, academic transcripts, certificate of indigene, national identification number (NIN) and a personal statement of at least 1,000 words.
Masters Degree applicants are expected to possess full-time admission letters from any of the federal universities amd must possess a minimum of second class lower (2.2), but those with
second class upper (2.1) division would have a better advantage.
Idem, last year, broke national performance records when he brought the vice president to his local government in Ukanafun, to flag-off the empowerment of 1000 constituents with a million naira each.
His performance is said to have exceeded whatever all his predecessors did cumulatively, since 1999.
