Rather than get angry with members of the state house of assembly for rejecting four of his nominees for appointment as commissioners, the Rivers State governor, Sim Fubara, chose to praise them for rigorously screening the nominees.

Since the beginning of the week, when the four nominees were rejected, the lawmakers have come under attack for rejecting the governor’s choices.

In fact, many of those who have criticised the lawmakers were of the view that the lawmakers decided to reject the nominees because they were directly chosen by the governor, while those who allegedly came through other channels were cleared.

But Fubara, while swearing-in the five nominees that were cleared, poured incoming on the lawmakers, saying they did a thorough job during the screening

He said the screening done by the state House of assembly has prepared the nominees to discharge their duties in the state executive Council.

He further said the conducts of the law makers shows their have interest of the Rivers state at heart.

According to him, the screening demonstrated by the State Assembly showed commitment to ensuring that only capable hands are entrusted with responsibilities in government.

He therefore urged them to justify the confidence reposed in them and work diligently to accelerate progress across the state.

The governor added that his administration expects nothing short of excellence service from the new commissioners as part of efforts to place Rivers state on faster path of growth and development.
