In this quest for a just, equitable and sustainable society, the Youths and Environmental Advocacy Centre YEAC-Nigeria, has called on government, policymakers and other relevant stakeholders to prioritize education and increase investment in youth development.
The group insisted that education and awareness were vital in addressing major societal challenges, including climate change, environmental degradation, organised crime, cultism, drug abuse, human trafficking and social inequality.
YEAC made this call at the weekend, in commemoration of the annual International Day of Education, where it reaffirmed its commitment to promoting inclusive, equitable and quality education for youths in the stage, the region and across Nigeria.
The organization’s Executive Director, Dr. Fyneface Dumnamene Fyneface, explained that “education remains a critical tool for empowering young people and driving sustainable development across the country.
“The 2026 theme -The Power of Youth in Co-Creating Education, aligns strongly with our mission of placing young people at the centre of educational development.
“Youths should not be seen merely as beneficiaries of education but as active contributors to its design, delivery and impact.
“Education and awareness are vital in addressing major societal challenges, including climate change, environmental degradation, organized crime, cultism, drug abuse, human trafficking and social inequality.
“We will continue to promote education and awareness initiatives aimed at capacity building, community empowerment and sustainable development.”
