Emohua Local Government Council is poised to boost food production and create employment opportunities for youths.
This development follows a stakeholders’ sensitization program organized by the Rivers State Rural Access and Agricultural Marketing Project (RAAMP) in partnership with the Federal Government and the World Bank.
The Administrator of Emohua Local Government Area, Franklin Ajinwo, disclosed that the area was blessed with vast arable land and waterfronts suitable for agriculture and fish farming.
He expressed optimism that the speedy implementation of the RAAMP program would develop the area, create better employment opportunities, and provide good roads to ease transportation challenges for farmers.
Ajinwo highlighted the potential of Emohua in rice cultivation and fish farming, stating that the initiative will enable the area to feed its locals and contribute to the state’s food security, advocating for inclusivity and speedy commencement of the program, pledging support and cooperation to ensure its success.
The Project Coordinator of RAAMP, Joshua Kpakol, highlighted the essence of the sensitization visit and its benefits to rural areas, disclosing that RAAMP has been in existence for about 10 years, operating in 19 states across Nigeria, with a focus on food security, rural development, and provision of modern amenities.
Kpakol described the project as a collective responsibility that is all-embracing and can change the economic fortunes of the area for good, emphasizing that synergy will help yield better results if sustained and that the rural dwellers are the direct beneficiaries of the project.
The stakeholders’ engagement was attended by dignitaries from various ministries, including the Permanent Secretary Ministry of Information and Communications, Emmanuel Ndah, and the Permanent Secretary Ministry of Agriculture, Maurice Ogolo.
