Hopes of a possible inclusion of Chief Timipre Sylva on the battle for the November 11 gubernatorial election in Bayelsa State dims further on Friday, as the court of appeal refused to grant his request for a stay of execution of the high court judgement which sacked him as candidate of the APC.
Justice Haruna Simon Tsammani who led the three man panel also denied his request for the relisting of his name on the ballot. But the court chose to reserve judgement on the matter.
With this ruling, there are fears that the former minister’s chances of contesting the election may have been ruined.
The court is expected to give judgement on a date to be announced soon.
This is coming even as another court is expected to give judgement on a casebrought against his running mate, Great Joshua Maciver, over his alleged non qualification to contest the election, having been convicted earlier.
