I’ll Probe Dickson, Guber Candidate Vows

2 min read

Governorship candidate of the Hope Democratic Party (HDP) in Bayelsa State, Pastor Genesis Kenigbolo has vowed to probe the financial dealings of the eight years restoration government of Seriake Dickson, if voted as governor.
Speaking to TNN in Yenagoa, the candidate said one of his goals as a governor of Bayelsa state would be real accountability.
“I will immediately set up a technical team of internal and external auditors to probe the financial conduct, project costs and implementation by my predecessor.
“I will also open up my administration to annual auditing. Bayelsans need to know exactly how their money was invested and if they have been short changed.
“This probe will encompass all those who served in the Dickson administration. We cannot continue to allow public officials to abuse the trust of their offices and convert public funds to their private wealth.
“I have no one to protect; l will expose corruption and serve you to the best of my ability and with the fear of God,” he said.
On his plans for Bayelsans, the Epie/Atissa born governorship hopeful said his government would focus on security and welfare of the people through provision of social amenities and job opportunities through industrialization.
Kenigbolo, who scored Dickson 45 per cent in terms of performance, expressed optimism that he was going to win the gubernatorial election “because I am an ordinary Bayelsan, l am like you. I will not promise you Dubai of Africa.”
While promising to complete any project started by Dickson that stands to benefit the state, the HDP standard bearer vowed to embark on massive capital city development project, lamenting that the present Yenagoa was not the state capital envisaged by the founding fathers of Bayelsa state.
