Uneasy calm in Choba after killing of CDC Chair

Residents of Choba communityin the Obio/AkporLocal Government Area of Rivers state have continued to live in fear, following the unrest in the community as a result of criminal activities of some youths.

For months now, the community has continually recorded series of clashes between cult group, the police and members of the community. In some cases, people sustain injuries without lives being lost while in other cases, lives were lost.

Ogoni women move against Shell’s return

The Federation of Ogoni Women's Association( FOWA) has rejected plans by the federal government to forcefully resume oil production in Ogoni land.

President of FOWA, Mrs Namon Nwinde who spoke at the MOSOP Secretariat in Bori, traditional headquarter of the Ogoni people at the end of a meeting of FOWA leaders on last Friday said "Ogoni women completely reject the planned return of state repression, killings and rape of Ogoni women under the cover of oil resumption in Ogoni"
