In-form Rivers Angels forward, Amarachi Ojinma has set a target of becoming the highest goal scorer of the 2016 season of the Nigeria Women Premier League (NWPL).
The 2014 NWPL highest goal scorer, who had a setback last season due to an ankle injury, has so far registered 2 goals in the season, scoring in the two games played so far. Ojinma scored her first goal of the season in the 4-1 victory of Rivers Angels over Martins White Doves in the first game played at the Samuel Ogbemudia stadium in Benin, and went on to register her second goal in a Week Two clash against Sunshine Queens which the Port Harcourt side won with a 2-0 score line.
Ojinma, who scored 17 goals to finish as the 2014 NWPL highest goal scorer, was however uncertain on the number of goals she could score this season.
“I am looking forward to being the highest goal scorer this season. I couldn't make it last season because of injury. I'm praying to God to help me this season, by His grace I believe I'll be the highest goal scorer this season. I'll put more effort to score in each match I play.”
Rivers Angels were on the road over the weekend to Adamawa Queens at the Fofure Township Stadium in a Week Three game of the NWPL.
Elsewhere in Group A, it was Osun Babes v Abia Angels, Nasarawa Amazons v COD Ladies, Tokas Queens v Ibom Angels and Edo Queens v Pelican Stars.
In Group B it was Martins White Doves v Capital City Doves, FC Robo Queens v Confluence Queens and Sunshine Queens v Taraba Queens.
