Calabar Rovers Getting Better, Says Team Manager

Calabar Rovers FC kept their promotion hopes alive following a 2-0 victory over Gateway FC in the second tier league engagement in Calabar.

Bishop Onyiudo scored deep into the first half with another goal from Murphy Ndukwe in the second half to dislodge the Ogun State Based team.

With the result, Rovers move into second spot to stay on course for promotion hunt into the Nigerian premier league next season.

In an exclusive interview with TNN, team manager of Rovers FC, Jimmy Okpotu expressed the hope that his boys would display another commanding performance in their next match in Ado Ekiti against Ekiti United, while applauding government's commitment to Rovers' welfare, but called for increased funding.

“I am very happy with this performance today as we hope to build on this in our next match. The governor has been trying in funding the team but we need more funding”

Gateway FC captain, Sabule Omoleaye, believes his team played well but luck was not on their side as he gave kudus to the referee for fair officiating.

" We played well today but luck was not on our side. We will go back to the drawing board "he said.
