Why We Need Change In C'River - Guber Candidates

Governorship candidate of the All Progressives Congress in Cross River state, Senator John Owan Enoh has said that his adoption as consensus candidate by 15 political parties in the state is humbling and a serious boost to his aspiration.

The parties formed Coalition of Owan Friends of Political Parties and Groups through which they adopted the APC governorship candidate in Calabar last week, after the coalition was inaugurated.

Explaining why the coalition was formed and why they adopted Owan Enoh, coordinating chairman of the coalition and governorship candidate of Alliance of Social Democrats (ASD), Pastor Charles Okoi said, “not everybody is happy about what is happening in the state. So we came together for a change. Enough is enough. We had to come up with this coalition. God will cause a change. He will bring it to pass.”

In his remarks, the governorship candidate of Alliance for Democracy, Dr. Charles Offiong said “we came up with the coalition because our state has witnessed a lot of drama. With the number of pastors in this group, we and our congregation will work for Owan's success.

“We are governorship candidates recognised by the Independent National Electoral Commission. If out of 23 governorship candidates in the state, 15 are for Owan Enoh, then the governorship election in the state is over.”

KOWA party governorship candidate and publicity secretary of the group, Chief Erete Mkposong, remarked that “the inauguration of the coalition and adoption of Enoh as consensus candidate became necessary to prove to Governor Ayade that there is opposition in the state.”

Pastor Ntami Esege, another governorship candidate said “we are confident that this adoption will bring glory to the state. This group will work to ensure that Enoh becomes the next governor of the state.”

Other governorship candidates present also spoke in unison about their desire to rescue the state by adopting Owan Enoh as consensus candidate.

After his adoption, Owan Enoh expressed his appreciation and said “I am proud that our state could have people like these governorship candidates. I didn't look for them. I could have. But they looked for me. My adoption as the consensus candidate is very humbling indeed. It is the making of history for the rebirth of Cross River state.

“They bought governorship tickets but saw that the interest of the state was bigger than their personal interest and decided to adopt me as candidate. I won't disappoint you.”

He added, “There is a great danger if this government gets re-elected for another four years. Cross Riverians, how bad can things get? What the coalition has done has renewed the confidence and hope of the people of Cross River State.”

Enoh pointed out that if he was not a strong contender for the office of governor, his campaign billboards would not be destroyed by agents of the government.

The parties which adopted him are KOWA, AD, NCP, JMPP, AA, Mega Party, CAP, ADP, PPN, among others.
