Bayelsa Guber Race: Clamour For Epie-Atissa Governor Intensifies,… As Okoko, Osaisai Pick Nomination Form

Paramount Ruler of Akenfa community in the Yenagoa Local government Area of Bayelsa State, His Royal Highness Isiya Albert has joined in the clamour for the election of a native of Epie-Atissa as the next governor of the state.

He told TNN in an exclusive interview that a son of the soil-from Yenagoa-will better develop the state capital because previous governors have not been able to properly develop the state capital.

He said as a former director in the state ministry of lands and housing, “I know that the plan and layout of the state capital and other areas that will make things happen are just kept in the cooler.

“The governors are just there doing things haphazardly, not minding the state capital but if we have a governor from our home, he will be able to think about the state capital because it is his home. I have gone to several state capitals, Yenagoa is one of the slow developing state capital in Nigeria.

“Even those states that were created at the same time with Bayelsa, they have gone far beyond our development. Some people may be arguing that Yenagoa is developing. To me, that is not development because they are not planned. People are still building houses on their own outside the capital city development plan. People still build houses to block other people's access roads. So, if we have a governor from the seat of the host to the state capital, I believe things will be better for everybody. “

He identified Senator Emmanuel Paulker as one of the best from Yenagoa that could deliver as governor, if elected. “From our body language, you can understand that we are already favouring an Epie-Atissa candidate who is Sen. Paulker Emmanuel that has shown interest so far. However, if any other person finally emerges from Yenagoa, we will accept it but our view is that somebody from Epie-Atissa should be the next governor of Bayelsa state.”

This is coming just as Pastor Kenebi Okoko, another Yenagoa son, has already picked his nomination form, ready for the party primaries. Also, an aspirant from Soutehrn/Ijaw, Dr Erepamo Osaisai is to pick his nomination form this week in Abuja.

Osaisai is the only one at the moment, that has made an open declaration of intent to contest the election.
