Panic In Calabar As Cultists Go Wild

Panic In Calabar As Cultists Go Wild

The continued intimidation of residents of Calabar by cultists has created panic in the Cross River State capital. Residents say they are now living in so much fear, especially those who reside around the Calabar South axis.

Last Saturday, hell was let loose in the city, following the killing of a suspected cultist called Last Born. His killing was said to have provoked a reprisal by a rival cult group, which led to the killing of another resident.

“They shot and killed Okon Edet, a.k.a “Last Born.” We suspect Last Born's friends responded by killing one guy around Uwanse, Calabar, called Stagger Lagger who cannot even walk or run well”, an eye witness said.

It was also learnt that Last Born was shot around Ekpo Abasi by Maybe Avenue, Calabar, where he went to fix an air conditioner in his car.

Another eye witness said: “The killing earlier, I think weeks ago, of one twin in Ward 8, Calabar, called Chang, is not unconnected with this renewed cult clash, please people should pass information to us, so that we can be steps ahead of these boys”, the police source pleaded. Security personnel remain on high alert.

The State Security Adviser, South, Ani Esin has said that the situation was being handled by the authorities. Already, some suspects have been arrested around the Nyong Edem Street, Ekpo Abasi, Calabar, with bags containing a cache of locally made firearms and ammunitions.
