Insecurity In Rivers Worries APC Chieftain

A chieftain of the All Progressives Congress, APC, in Obio/Akpor Local Government Area of Rivers state, Mr Amaewhule C. Gabriel wants the Rivers state governor, Nyesom Wike to employ necessary measures that will guarantee the safety of lives and property of residents in the state.

Gabriel stated this in an interview with TNN during the weekend, where he noted that the first obligation of government towards its people was their safety. He frowned on the rate of killings, kidnapping, cultism and robbery in the state.

“It's very disappointing that a government cannot perform its basic duty to the people, the safety of lives and property of Rivers residents are in jeopardy. If you don't keep the people you are leading alive, who then will you call followers?”

“Rivers State keeps going from worse to worst, killings everywhere, kidnapping, cultism and robbery, now people are slaughtered like Christmas fowl, human bodies littered everywhere, this must have to stop, whoever started it must end it?

“As a result of political thuggery, boys have been recruited to do some bad jobs for the politicians to succeed in office, after doing those bad jobs they were not settled, so the same bad boys they had equipped with arms and weapons decided to go on the streets of Port Harcourt to terrorize, kidnap and assassinate innocent souls as a result of that Rivers state is no longer peaceful, it's no more conducive, both indigenes and non-indigenes of Rivers State”.

“Today the areas are being polluted with cultism. That is why the state can no longer be controlled by the governor. When these boys are arrested, an order will come from above for their release and that is why the entire state is going through serious catastrophe”
