Egbona urges peaceful co-existence, tolerance at Easter

As Christians all over the world celebrate Easter, the member-elect for Abi/Yakurr Federal Constituency in the House of Representatives, Dr Alex Egbona has urged the people of Cross River State, particularly his constituents to live in peace with their neighbours.

Egbona has also urged his people to imbibe the culture of tolerance in line with the teachings of the Bible. He said the people should not celebrate the death and resurrection of Jesus and forget the very essence of the season.

He made the remarks in a special message to mark the Easter. In the message titled ‘Celebrating Easter with Christ in mind’, the legislator-elect said Abi/Yakurr people should have some sober reflections on the works of Christ on the cross, as they mark the season.

“All over the world, Christians are celebrating the death and resurrection of the Saviour, Jesus Christ, the man who shed his blood for our redemption. It is therefore necessary to remember always, that Christ made some sacrifices for us, for us to live today.

“That is why I am urging you my people, to always make sacrifices for the good of others.  At a time like this, let me encourage you to imbibe the culture of sacrifice, selflessness and tolerance. Learn to make sacrifices that will give joy to others.

“On my part, as you very well know, I am committed to doing those things that will give you joy. As I await our formal inauguration in June, I like to reassure you of my commitment to selfless service. I will not fail to do those things I promised during our election campaign days.

“May the peace of God that passes all understanding be with us all during this Easter season and always. Wherever you are, do not forget to pray for me. Remember, I have always said I cannot walk alone. Let us use the opportunity that this Easter provides, to pray for the continued peace, progress, development and togetherness of the Abi/Yakurr Federal Constituency.

“May God bless us and keep us alive to see the transformation that awaits this constituency in the days ahead?”
