Spokesman for Brotherhood of the Cross and Star, Christ Ambassador Edet Archibong disclosed this to journalists in Calabar on Saturday while announcing activities lined up for the week-long event.

He said the event kick-started on Monday, April 8 with the commissioning of projects, special visits to Biakpan chiefs, special evangelism, charity works, feeding of the cherubs, choral competition, football match, among other things.

Archibong also spoke on how activities of the Brotherhood of the Cross and Star have boosted tourism in the state as well as the establishment of schools, children's homes, award of scholarships to indigent students, creation of jobs for thousands of people in its bakery, bottled-water plant, TV/radio stations, printing press, micro finance bank, and many others.

Also speaking at the event, Archbishop Joseph Dike said Olumba had helped in the resolution of  communal disputes not only in the state but also in other parts of the country and beyond.

He said Brotherhood of the Cross and Star was the No. 1 global religious tourism centre in the world and urged the Cross River State government to enter into greater partnership with BCS to harness the huge tourism benefits its mega activities generate.

"Brotherhood of the Cross and Star is the pride of the state. This is where the entire tourism of Cross River State should start," he emphasised.
