Bayelsa East Poll: Why I Didn't Vote For Myself -PDP Candidate

Candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party for the Bayelsa East Senatorial District, Chief Ipigansi Izagara has stated that he did not see electoral materials in his Okoroba village in Nembe Local Government Area, let alone cast his vote during the just concluded presidential and National Assembly elections in the state.

Izagara told newsmen in Yenagoa that he was still in shock over the announcement by the Independent National Electoral Commission INEC that the All Progressives Congress, APC, scored forty-one thousand votes from Nembe Basambiri where, according to him, elections did not hold at all due to violence.

Izagara said the only option acceptable to the PDP was for INEC to declare a rerun in seven wards in Nembe local government area where he said elections never held.

"I am surprised that where elections did not hold, results are compiled and submitted at Brass. Even the collation officer refused to accept those results but an Army major forced her to accept those results. We are pleading that INEC should have a rerun election in Nembe Basambiri", Izagara said.

Also speaking, the PDP candidate for Brass/Nembe federal constituency, Mrs. Marie Ebikake said all the petitions written by her party to INEC fell on deaf ears.

"The most painful part of it is that we have written a lot of petitions to the resident electoral commissioner. Even the REC confirmed that there were no elections in Nembe. How come they generated the results?

The Bayelsa east senatorial agent of the PDP, Mr. Jonathan Obuebite, said "let the whole world know that there was no election in Nembe Basambiri. Whatever results they submitted to INEC should be disregarded. Of course they know that we are going to meet in court.

"Definitely, the law is going to take its course, the truth will manifest and the right candidate who won the election will be declared or a rerun election will be conducted in those seven wards where elections did not hold".
