INEC confirms doors shut against Rivers APC

INEC confirms doors shut against Rivers APC

No candidate of the All Progressives Congress from Rivers State will take part in Saturday's elections in the state, says the national chairman of the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, Prof Yakubu Mahmood.

the INEC chairman told a media conference in Abuja on Wednesday that as long as the Supreme Court had ruled on the fate of the candidates, there was nothing else the commission could do that to obey the apex court.

The pronouncement ended speculations and propaganda posts, especially on the social media, that the commission was still considering allowing the APC to field candidates for the election.

On Saturday, it is most likely that all candidates of the PDP will be returned unopposed, although some schools of thought believe that some candidates from other political parties may just spring surprises.
