A former governor of Bayelsa State and leader of the All Progressives Congress in the state, Chief Timipre Sylva has nicknamed the APC as work-chop party.
Sylva made the revelation when he led the campaign train of the APC to Gbarain Kingdom in Yenagoa Local Government Area, ahead of the 2019 general elections.
The campaign rallies which held at Tombia and Agudama-Ekpetiama communities were used to showcase the party's candidates for Bayelsa Central Senatorial District, House of Representatives, Yenagoa/Kolokuma/Opokuma Federal Constituency and Constituency 11 of the state assembly.
Speaking while receiving 5,000 defectors from the ruling Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, to the APC fold, the former governor said the APC was a party of hardworking people.
"Do you know the other name for our party? APC is a work-chop party. In APC, we work and chop. This is the time to work for the party.
"I therefore urge you to go and work hard for the success of the party in the forthcoming elections at all levels.
"Make sure you vote our presidential, senatorial, house of reps and state assembly candidates during the elections and thereafter we will begin to chop. We call it work-chop", he submitted.
Also speaking, a former deputy and acting governor during Sylva's era, Chief Werenipre Seibarugu urged the people to vote the candidates of the APC, stressing that they would not regret their actions.
