Suspected Hoodlums Seize Voters Cards In Rivers -INEC Staff

An official of INEC in the Obio/Akpor Local Government Area of Rivers State, Mr. Steven Coco Bassey has claimed that hoodlums manhandled officials of the commission while trying to distribute the Permanent Voters Cards, PVCs to registered voters at ward 10 of the LGA.

According to him, the PVCs were forcefully taken away by the hoodlums who overpowered the officials while on the distribution assignment.

Ironically, registered voters in the state have been complaining of their inability to collect their PVCs for sometime now. At the INEC office, some of them were told to go to their local governments or wards to pick up the cards.

Some of them were also told to visit other designated areas to collect the cards. Unfortunately, the officials are never there to attend to the people.

In some cases, there have been complaints of the officials demanding money from the prospective voters before they would be given the cards. But Coco-Bassey claimed the officials who were allegedly attacked were going to distribute the cards to their owners.
