The remains of the 72-year old mother of the governor of Bayelsa State, Mrs. Goldcoast Dickson was laid to rest at her home town, Toru-Angiama in Patani local government area of Delta state. The burial united top leaders of the PDP and the APC.
President Muhammadu Buhari, represented by the Secretary to Federal Government, Mr. Boss Mustafa, described Dickson's mother as resourceful and passionate, adding that those qualities were responsible for the successes achieved by her children.
Buhari particularly commended Mama Gogo for producing a child in the person of governor Dickson who has excelled in all his endeavours.
He said Mama Goldcoast would be greatly missed because of the cordial relationship she had maintained with all her children and prayed God to grant her soul eternal rest.
Former President Goodluck Jonathan on his part said the large turnout of personalities and sympathizers from all works of life was a demonstration of the love Nigeria had for Bayelsa State and the Ijaw nation.
Jonathan who is a native of Otuoke in Ogbia local government area of Bayelsa state thanked all for gracing the occasion.
In his remarks, the state governor on behalf of the family, expressed gratitude to Buhari, Jonathan and others for their support.
He equally thanked all sympathizers and leaders across political divides for their show of love towards the family, Bayelsa and the Ijaw nation in their moment of grief.
"We appreciate your patience and understanding that brought you from far and near to sympathize with us", he added.
Other dignitaries that attended the event include the current vice president, Prof Yemi Osinbajo, a former vice president and presidential candidate of the PDP, Atiku Abubakar, Speaker of the House of Representatives, governors of Rivers, Akwa Ibom, Cross River, Sokoto states amongst others.
