Ipo, the host community of the Port Harcourt International Airport has decried the inability of the federal government to distribute electricity to their community.
Speaking on the sidelines of the commissioning of the reconstructed airport terminal, the Eze Omekwatali 1 of Ipo town, Chief Joseph Wali condemned the act of not extending the distribution to the community.
“They by-passed our community to connect light to the airport. They are supposed to connect light to Ipo town. There is no light, no water in Ipo town. They don't have regard for us. Look at the way they even treated us at the ceremony, we were not recognized.
He, however, commended the government for the construction of the terminal.
“Federal government has tried a lot to build the terminal. It is a very nice edifice they have put here”, he said.
All attempts to get the federal Airport Authority of Nigeria (FAAN) to comment were rebuffed as they refused to talk to TNN.
