Prof. Eyo Etim Nyong, a renowned petroleum geologist and consultant of international repute has formally declared to run for the governorship seat in Cross River state.
While making the declaration at the weekend in Calabar, he stated that “governance in Cross River State, particularly under the present administration in the state had broken down and indeed become completely rocky”.
According to him, “If the truth must be clearly stated and the future secured for the generations to come, you will agree that governance has been broken down and indeed become completely rocky under the watch of the present hegemony, thus exposing Cross Riverians to unwarranted frustration and quantum hardship.”
He further told a large crowd of supporters at the Cultural Centre auditorium that “the present situation in Cross River State calls for unity of purpose across political party lines to salvage what is left of our dear state before it drifts into oblivion.
“With all humility as well as your esteem permission, I have no choice but to present myself as a sacrificial lamb for the redemption of our dear state, under the platform of the All Progressives Congress (APC), as I aspire to become Governor of our dear state, come 2019.
“Collectively we can reclaim our state from the adventurers and opportunists. Irish Philosopher and political theorist, Edmund Burke postulated that the triumph of evil is possible only when good people do nothing.”
Ambassador Joseph T. Ayambem, a career diplomat who was the chairman of the occasion and also spoke at the event, urged the electorate in the state to support the aspiration of Prof. Eyo Etim Nyong
According to him “this ebullient, energetic young man called High Chief Eyo Etim Nyong after achieving so much in many areas of his chosen should be encourage to give back to the state of his birth.
“It is for us to encourage him to give back the secret of his true fulfillment, the secret of his triumph, the secret of his focus, the secret of his success and integrity, sense of justice and equity and many other positives”.
