Breaking: Dickson's Community Crashes Out Of Restoration Cup Finals

Toru-Oruwa community, home of Governor Seriake Dickson in Sagbama Local government Area of Bayelsa state has been eliminated from the ongoing 2018 edition of the annual intercommunity Restoration Cup being organized by the state governor.

Pere-Torugbene community of Ekeremo local government area defeated the Toru-Orua boys on penalty shoot out after a one all  draw on regulation time during the first semi final of the tournament that was decided last night at the Samson Siasia Stadium in Yenagoa..

The Pere-Toru side was a more tactically disciplined side of the match that put more pressure on their opponent and created many scoring chances but failed to convert them.

Rather, it was Toru-Orua that took the lead at the 77th minute through number 10 jessy, Tokoni Joel who fired home from a  close range as defenders failed to clear a corner kick that landed low on the box 14.

The Ekeremor warriors drew level at the 82nd minute  through a penalty kick which was awarded when a Toru-Orua defender, Kenneth Omubo deliberately grabbed the ball that was bouncing into an empty net which would have announced an equalizer.

Omubo was red carded and sent off  the pitch to reduce his side to 10 men while number 15 Mathew Efie of h Pere-Torugbene converted the penalty for an equaliser.

The 10-man side held their opponent to regulation time without further conceding a goal despite pressures piled on them.

An intriguing penalty shoot out ended 9-8 in favour of Pere-Torugbene community who are now already at the final.

The second semi final game of the Henry Seriake Dickson Restoration Cup will be decided this evening between Otuasega and Opu-Nembe communities at the same venue.
