Senator John Owan Enoh's passion for Youth Empowerment and development is so central to his vision and politics. Driven by the quest for the best for the teaming youth who have remained pivotal to his success in public service, his actions have been driven by how much more programmes, job placements and critical interventions he can bring to bear for positive impact on the lives of the teeming youth who have remained the life wire of his phenomenal success in public service. Driven by the single minded motivation, the Peoples' senator spared no effort and resources to bring to Ikom, a leading motivational speaker, Muyiwa Afolabi to deliver a paper with the theme: Central Youths: Developing A Passion For Excellence. The occasion was the Central Youths Meet Senator Owan Enoh, an annual platform created by the senator to engage and interact with the youths from his senatorial district. In the serene ambience of Jorany Hotels Ikom, teeming youth drawn from the central Senatorial District numbering over a thousand converged at Ikom to drink from the fountain of knowledge of the lead Lecturer, Muyiwa Afolabi as he made an impassioned case for the youths of the Senatorial District to turn a new page in order to harness their untapped potentials.
As has become his tradition, distinguished Sen. John Owan Enoh assembled youths across the central senatorial district to equip them with entrepreneurship knowledge for self-empowerment. In terms of the quality of the lecturers, the 2017 Cross River Central Youth Summit was by all standards rich in content. As usual, Senator Enoh whose love for the youth is unrivalled spared no effort and resources to bring the very best to the youths of the central senatorial district. His noble vision is to prepare and equip them to face the challenges of the present and future with confidence.
The one-day Summit which was flagged off at the prestigious Jorany Hotels & Resort, Ikom had the Theme: “Tapping into the wealth of the Internet for self-employment”. The resource persons were carefully chosen.
They include Agba Jalingo, an Internet sensation, and a proud son of Cross River State, who is the Publisher of Cross River Watch, a successful online medium. Also on the bill was Leke Ojikutu, an internet entrepreneur of repute and the Pioneer Founder of Bulk Sms in Nigeria. The two guest lecturers took the centre stage to lecture central youths on how they can create wealth through the internet. Both of them harped on the transformative capacity of the internet and called on the youths to channel their time towards the use of the internet for wealth creation. They added that with the use of the internet for commercial use, they youths can create wealth which will enable them live the kind of life they had always dreamt of.
The summit, the 3rd in the series was well attended by youths drawn from all LGAs of the Central Senatorial District. Senator Enoh used the occasion to thank the youths who turned out in their numbers for the seminar.
He also informed them that all delegates would undergo a 3 week training on ICT, after which the best from the 66 wards would be empowered with laptops.
