Men of the Joint Security Task Force that succeeded in apprehending and killing the dreaded terrorist from Ukanafun, Akwa Ibom State, Akaninyene Jumbo Ukoh, popularly called Iso Akpafid are working hard to apprehend all those believed to have had any dealing with the slain terrorist.
TNN learnt that the telephone that Iso Akpafid used before he was killed, was recovered and shocking information, including videos, text messages and calls from people suspected to be his recruits and associates were found.
It was learnt that there were discussions by some politicians from Akwa Ibom, particularly those from Ukanafun who spoke to him frequently.
As a security personnel put it, the discoveries from his phone are scary but very useful. The security agent said with the information on his phone, it was becoming easier for them to go after all those who had something to do with Iso Akpafid.
Some of the politicians are becoming panicky. TNN observed that particularly those from the Ikot Ekpene senatorial district are afraid that having either spoken directly with, or sent people to talk with the slain terrorist, there was the possibility that they could be picked up to help with information on their relationship with Iso Akpafid.
Some of the politicians have either decided to go into hiding or have decided to remain incommunicado. But a security chief hinted that there would be no escape for anyone reasonably suspected to have had dealings with the terrorist gang.
This is coming just as some other terrorists are still tormenting the natives. Last Friday, a retired nurse was kidnapped from her home in Ikot Akpa Nkuk.
On Saturday, some suspected militants went ahead to paste a ransom demand notice on the house of a certain Ofonime Harry, a native of Idung Eka Uyo. They gave him a deadline to pay up or risk being kidnapped. It is not clear if those behind the latest criminal activities were disciples of Iso Akpafid or if they belong to another cult group.
