My Parent Are Against My Music Career-Icelorex

My Parent Are Against My Music Career-Icelorex

Upcoming Port Harcourt based music artiste, Taoh Bondum, popularly known by his blazing stage name, Icelorex, was with TNN's EUNICE OLALEYE for an interview, where  he spoke on how he started his music career, his challenges in the entertainment industry, among others.

Excerpts:

What inspired you to go into music?

I have always loved melodious rhythms. When I was a kid, both gospel and circular, along the line while growing up, I started getting to know some popular artistes.

Which of the artistes?

Well, when I say get to know them I mean listening, browsing about the ones that have my interest, learning their lyrics, like that of 2face, D,Banj, Wandecool. I have always enjoyed their songs all through my school days, then Wizkid came in and I love his song but all this while, I never had the thought of going into music but when I finally came across ice prince, I fell in love with his rap and I wanted to sing every of his song and that was it.

So, how did you start?

I actually started in secondary school, which was the first time I went to the studio and recorded a song. Then when I gained admission to University of Calabar, I dropped my first single, truth. Since then, receiving supports here and there and have been on point, I'm always invited to shows and so on.

What are your latest achievements so far?

I have written a couple of nice songs, and currently working on my music video.

Which is your favourite track, and what inspired it?

My favourite song was the song titled Balla. What actually motivated me to sing that song was that my fans needed a song to dance. “Balla” was derived from the word “Baller” like foot baller, Baller like one who is flexing, so, I just changed the “er” to “a”.

What do your songs really talk about?

It mostly talks about reality, honesty, being real, love, nothing else but the truth.

How encouraging has the industry been?

Well, my relations, siblings and my friends support me; they have really been a great help to me, in sponsoring and encouraging me, for now that is close to enough.

What about your parents, are they not in support of your music?

No. They are totally against it, believing I will neglect my studies, but I still went for it because of my passion for music, but my aim is to do all possible best to convince them that I won't neglect my studies and will bring them to accept my dreams, which I know I will, they will support soon enough.

How did you come up with the stage name icelorex?

Like I said, I love Ice Prince music, he is like my role model. So, I named myself after him.
