Children Weep As Public Schools Remain Shut In Rivers

Anxiety surrounds the resumption of public schools in Rivers State as private security guards contracted to the schools by private employers have made true their threat to shut the gates of the schools if the backlog of their salaries were not cleared before resumption of the new session. Pupils were seen outside closed gates, perturbed, confused and weeping, knowing not what exactly to do next.

Endless LG Caretaker Committees In Rivers State

There seems to be no end in sight for the constitution of caretaker committees in Rivers State since the advent of the current administration in the state. In a few days, Rivers State governor, Nyesom Wike will be inaugurating new caretaker committees (CTCs) for 17 local government councils in the state. This would be the third set of CTCs to be inaugurated by him in his 16 months-old administration.
