We'll Force A'Ibom People To Pay Taxes -Tax Consultant

Though notices were earlier given, many in Akwa Ibom were taken by surprise last week when the premises of construction giant, Julius Berger Nigeria Plc, in Uyo was sealed off for defaulting on paying tax relating to pollution and effluent discharge. Wizchino Engineering Limited, which is said to be enjoying the patronage of Governor Udom Emmanuel’s administration was also among  construction companies and other top business premises operating in the state that the government clamped down on, indicating that there is no sacred cow in the government's tax drive. The exercise, which was ongoing at the time of filing this report, was being carried out by the state Ministry of Environment and Mineral Resources in conjunction with an indigenous firm consulting for the state government on IGR.
