Niger Delta Voters Decide Fate Of Senate, Reps Candidates This Week

The 2019 National Assembly elections in Bayelsa state will be epochal. TNN has been keenly monitoring the political events in the state as they unfold. The Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, has said that out of the over 91 registered political parties, 45 would be fielding candidates to participate in the general elections in the state.

As the countdown to the February 16 presidential and National Assembly elections draw close, there is palpable but understandable tension in the camp of the candidates of the various political parties over the outcome of the polls on that fateful day. While the odds are obviously in favour of the big players, the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) and the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), some others such as African Democratic Congress (ADC), Accord Party and Social Democratic Party (SDP) are also making efforts to pull some dramatic stunts.

Panic, Tension, As Bayelsa Prepares To Vote

This Saturday, February 16, the people of Bayelsa State will join the rest of the federating states to elect the next set of leaders who will run the affairs of the nation for the next four years. That day will mark the first round of the voting exercises as stipulated by the electoral umpire, the Independent National Electoral Commission INEC. The first round of elections will determine who will occupy the Aso Rok Villa, the Nigerian seat of power, as the next president of the Federal Republic of Nigeria. On the same day, the electorate will elect members of the National Assembly.
